Here is a short overview:
-
In the beginning of my life I barely survived abusive Nazi parents and Hitler who wanted to sacrifice me to the cause of his world conquest gone array.
Then came Communism and an escape across the iron curtain into the hands of a thief who robbed me of my last belongings. I survived in the stables of an illegal pig raising operation. From there I jumped to a job as bartender in officers clubs of the allied occupation forces. Their riches and happy life made me swear one day to have the same.
I managed to sail for America only to be drafted into the US Army. As a soldier once more, I guarded West Germany against my former buddies in the Communist East. Finally I got to study and graduated from UC Berkeley.
With my foreign accent and a residue of German manners I found an American wife and won an election to the job of Clerk/Registrar in the County of Marin, California. To realize my dream of riches I also remodeled old homes for profit and retired with a pension at age 54.
A few years later I had not only financial independence but could live like the well-to-do I had met 37 years before. At that moment my conscience stirred and I decided to shed my wealth. I moved to Guatemala where I lived with the Q’eqchi’ Indians and tried to put my money to good use aiding the poor. Of all my days I cherish most my escapes from oppression, war and poverty. They made my life worth living.
